mkdir
Use mkdir to make a directory
$ mkdir {directory}
$ mkdir newdir
$ mkdir –p newdir1/newdir2/newdir3
NOTE: You have to either be the owner of the file or have write permissions to the directory containing the new directory!
- mkdir – make directory
- This creates a directory.
- Capitalize the first letter of any directory to make identifying a directory with ls easier.
- mkdir [new directory name]
- Example: mkdir Temp
- You can create multiple directories with a single command
- Example: mkdir Temp1 Temp2 Temp3

NAME
mkdir - make directories
SYNOPSIS
mkdir [OPTION]... DIRECTORY...
DESCRIPTION
Create the DIRECTORY(ies), if they do not already exist.
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-m, --mode=MODE
set file mode (as in chmod), not a=rwx - umask
-p, --parents
no error if existing, make parent directories as needed
-v, --verbose
print a message for each created directory
-Z, --context=CTX
set the SELinux security context of each created directory to CTX
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit
